Bangkok, surrounding provinces joins force against rabies
BANGKOK, March 21 (TNA) - Bangkok joins forces with surrounding provinces to fight against rabies in the vaccination campaign for pets and stray dogs.
Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang on Wednesday chaired the meeting with senior officials from six adjacent provinces and livestock officials.
He said about the rabies situation in Bangkok that currently, the capital is free from rabies and there is no death in the capital.
The Bangkok governor said that he was most concerned about Samut Prakarn province, which has wide areas, connecting Bangkok and there are at least two million non-registered population in the province.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has worked closely with six provinces to train volunteers in administering rabies vaccination. Veterinary students also cooperate to support the task.
He urged pet owners to register their animals at eight BMA veterinary offices under the city’s ordinance on pet control. He warned them not to inject vaccines for their pets by themselves as the action is against the law. (TNA)
