Govt to develop poverty-stricken areas
NONG BUA LAMPHU, March 22 (TNA) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha reiterates that his government works to develop all regions without discrimination during his trip to the country’s poorest province of Nong Bua Lamphu today.
He told local people that the government paid attention to poverty-stricken areas to help people earn more income. Nong Bua Lamphu has the lowest income of about 41,000 baht per person each year on average.
His visit today would contribute to the initiative of Nong Bua Lamphu model. He wanted local people to look for potential of their areas for development.
The premier suggested farmers to do integrated farming system. Local hand woven textile producers should adopt cloth design and innovation to make their products meet market demand overseas.
Regarding water management plan for agricultural sector, he said the government is speeding up in water supply to all areas by next year. Budgets will be spent on building water retention areas. The Ministry of Energy will conduct survey to install solar powered pumps.
During his one-day trip, he presided over the opening ceremony for Ban Pho Si Samran Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) Learning Center.
He opened the solar-powered water pumping system and handed over two water well drilling rigs to local communities. (TNA)
