Thailand Post supports e-commerce, SMEs
BANGKOK, March 27 (TNA) - Thailand Post says that 200 more vehicles it has acquired are now ready to serve clients, a number of whom are operators of the growing e-commerce and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country.
Thailand Post President Samorn Terdthampiboon told journalists of the update, noting that her state enterprise has spent over 160 million baht on acquiring the additional 200 delivery vehicles and will acquire another 600 vehicles, about 800,000 baht each, within this year.
Samorn explained that the move to enhance Thailand Post's capacity in delivering parcels nationwide is aimed to support the growing e-commerce and SMEs in the country.
According to the Thailand Post president, there are now more than eight million parcels to be delivered nationwide daily, including those of large sizes, and the new vehicles can protect damage to any parcel more certainly.
Besides, the enhanced delivery capacity represents the upgraded quality standard of Thailand Post to be in line with its 4.0 benchmark, as part of the government's Thailand 4.0 Policy, in order to meet the maximum satisfaction of its clients.
"During April-May, Thailand Post will launch a campaign to specially serve clients who want to deliver large parcels of at least five kilograms each and later in mid-2018, Thailand Post will launch another campaign on receiving parcels at e-commerce or SMEs offices where at least 3,000 parcels are normally delivered monthly with special discount service charges", the Thailand Post president revealed.
"Thailand Post will also open 10 more 24 hour-service post offices in Bangkok and provincial areas within this year, including those at gas stations of PTT Public Company Limited (PTT)", added the president.
The Thailand Post president acknowledged that the value of the country's e-commerce reached about 25.5 billion baht last year, or 489.3 million parcels, 52 per cent of which were delivered by Thailand Post totally worth about 12.7 billion baht, and Thailand Post has targeted to uphold the number one market share and even increase it to 18 per cent this year.
