Birthday celebrations for HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn
BANGKOK, April 2 (TNA) -- Activities were held across Thailand to celebrate the 63rd birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on April 2.
The activities were mainly alms giving for Buddhist monks, activities to promote Thai cultures and the release of aquatic animals.
In Songkhla province, Songkhla governor Doldet Patanarat presided over an alms-giving event in front of the Songkhla provincial administrative organisation. Many representatives of the government and the private sectors and local residents participated in the activity.
In Phitsanulok province, its governor Pakpong Tawipat opened a Thai cultural heritage fair at the provincial hall pavilion as the government declared April 2 the Thai Heritage Conservation Day. HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has been actively supporting the conservation of Thai cultures.
In Samut Songkhram province, provincial governor Khanchat Tansathian led local residents to release 100,000 tiger prawns into the Mae Klong river in the provincial seat to increase the population of tiger prawns in the natural habitat.
Meanwhile, Surasak Charoensirichote, governor of Rayong province, released aquatic animals into the Rayong river. Besides, local residents gave alms to 64 Buddhist monks and there was a fair on the history of Rayong province. (TNA)
