Three killed in fire at apartment in Bangkok
BANGKOK, April 3 (TNA) - Fire at an apartment in Bangkok’s Ratchathewi district killed three persons and injured more than 30 others.
Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang inspected the site this morning after firefighters spent almost four hours to put out the blaze, which broke out around 2 am at the electricity control room on the fifth floor of Ratchathewi Apartment in Soi Phetchaburi 18.
About 300 residents of the 180-room apartment in Soi Phetchaburi 18 wake up and fled from the building. Most were injured and suffocated from inhaling amoke.
About 20 persons including children hid on the 13th floor, waiting for help and they were the last group, rescued by officials at 6 am.
More than 30 injured persons were sent to eight nearby hospitals.
The building is about 30 year old and the fire could be caused by old electric wire and short circuit. Those who require Information about the victims can contact the Erawan Emergency Service Center at 1669 or 1646. (TNA)
