PM visits Pattani to follow up development projects
BANGKOK, April 4 (TNA) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha is visiting the southern border province of Pattani today.
Upon his arrival, he went to the Pattani stadium to preside over the opening ceremony of the 13th Southern Border Provinces Scout Jamboree.
The event is held by Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Southern Border Provinces Educational Coordination Center, public and private sectors between April 3-7.
It is aimed to express respect toward the monarchy, nation, and religions, and to demonstrate the potential of Southern border provinces scouts who peacefully coexist in the multi-cultural society.
The event is attended by 3,548 boy and girl scouts, committee, and staff throughout the country, and 443 foreign scouts from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Qatar.
The Prime Minister, then, chaired a meeting on economic and social development in the Southern border provinces at Pattani Provincial Hall.
In the afternoon, he is scheduled to hand over sports equipment to student representatives from five local schools in Khok Pho district, and visit a multi-cultural community in Kuan Langa district where Buddhist and Muslim Thais peacefully coexist.
He will meet with religious leaders and local people to listen to their problems and to create awareness of the Government’s policy and implementation, as well as to boost morale of public officials and local people.
The Prime Minister will then return to Bangkok on the same day. (TNA)
