Samsung QLED TVs receive '100 pct color volume' certification

SEOUL, April 22 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co. said Sunday its quantum dot light-emitting diode (QLED) TVs received "100 percent color volume" certification from Germany's VDE association. The tech giant said the certification by one of Europe's largest technical-scientific associations that oversees standardization and product testing, highlights the high degree of technology that has gone into its QLEDs and ability to provide excellent pictures to viewers. Color volume determines the ability of a device to show a wider range of color, as well as higher brightness levels. This is used as reference to check the standard of any given screen. Samsung said that it used its quantum dot technology in its 2018 artificial intelligence 4K Q-Engine TVs. The set is capable of compensating for shortcomings in video images by analyzing source materials and even reducing picture noise. It said such an arrangement can provide the best image quality. "This year's certification marks the second year in a row that Samsung sets have been certified for 100 percent color volume and is testament to the quality of products the company is able to churn out," a company representative said.
