Thailand ready to host US-North Korea summit

ANGKOK, April 25 (TNA) -- Thailand is ready to be the venue where the leaders of the United States and North Korea will meet if they agree to hold the historical summit in the country, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said. He responded to international news reports on that Thailand is a possible venue for the meeting of US President Donald Trump and North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un. “The US and North Korea will make their decision. However, Thailand is ready to welcome visitors,” Gen Prayut said. Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said international news reports on the issue were speculation and concerned officials had not discussed the matter yet. He said Thailand was ready to host such a summit because it had done so on several occasions including a US-North Korea meeting 18 years ago which led to their restored relations. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring news reports as usual but there is not any concrete development on the issue which is sensitive in many aspects. However, Thailand is pleased to see ongoing positive development and hopes it will lead to sustainable solutions,” Mr Don said. (TNA)
