70 best films during late King Bhumibol's reign selected for special screening
BANGKOK, April 26 (TNA) -- Seventy Thai films produced during the reign of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej have been selected for a special screening.
Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam Tuesday chaired the opening of the 70 outstanding films of the King Rama IX’s Reign at Scala Theartre in Bangkok.
The Ministry of Culture reviewed and selected 70 out of nearly 30,000 Thai films for the project to honor King Bhumibol Adulyadej who passed away in October 2016.
The best films will be shown in theartres free of charge in Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Prachuap Khiri Khan Provinces throughout this year.
Mr Wissanu said the late King had supported and contributed to the development of the film industry.
The program by the Ministry of Culture gave an opportunity to honor the King, he said.
Along with the screenings, film producers, directors, actors and actresses attended exhibitions and seminars on the cultural assets. (TNA)
