New crackdown on unsafe food supplements
BANGKOK, May 2 (TNA) – Police searched Don Mueang new market in a crackdown on substandard food supplement products.
More than 400 police officers and officials from Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with the search warrant launched a fresh crackdown on illegal and substandard food supplement and drugs, searching 200 shops at the Don Mueang new market.
Today’s raidh followed consumer complaints that substandard food supplement and drugs were sold there. Many products showed no manufacturers and some shops mixed ingredients and packaged the products for selling directly to customers.
Many slimming products, including weight loss pills under the Lyn brand, recently seized by the police for containing dangerous substances were found being sold at the market as well as unlicensed food supplements and cosmetics under the Magic Skin brand.
Samples of suspicious products were collected for further examination by the FDA. Legal action will be taken against sellers of illegal and unsafe beauty products and food supplements. (TNA)
