New bus services for U-Tapao airport

BANGKOK, May 4 (TNA) -- The Land Transport Department has launched new bus services between U-Tapao airport and three eastern provinces to help promote the airport. Sanit Phromwong, director-general of the department, said the new services operated on three routes from U-Tapao airport to Trat, Rayong and Chon Buri provinces and they would help develop the airport to be a new aviation hub for the East. The department contracted Suvarnabhumi Burapha Co to operate Route 398 between Trat and U-Tapao airport. A trip on the 220-kilometre-long route will take about three hours and 15 minutes. The company also runs Route 400 between Chon Buri and U-Tapao airport. The route stretches 100 kilometres and a trip takes about one hour and a half. BH Rayong Co was contracted to run buses on Route 399 between the airport and Rayong. A trip on the 35-kilometre-long route takes about half an hour. About 2-4 buses were deployed on each route to serve passengers of about 40 daily flights at the airport, Mr Sanit said. (TNA)
