Officials on alert for dangerous new illicit drug

BANGKOK, May 7 (TNA) -- International drug enforcement agencies have notified its Asian branches to be on the lookout for Carphentanyl a dangerous new narcotic that is bought and sold using crypto currencies. Wiroj Sumyai, the president of the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) revealed that western governments in the US, North America, South America, Mexico, Argentina and Canada are reported to be contending with a new dangerous narcotic called Carphentanyl, a white powdery substance. Drug syndicates have begun mixing the substance with heroine and selling them at higher prices. Tragically, by mixing the substance with heroine the results are fatal. There is currently no known antidote for the substance. A report in 2017 revealed that approximately 10,000 people died from ingesting Carphentanyl forcing the US Health Department to declare a health crisis. Mr Wiroj stated that the main narcotic related issue in Asia is methamphetamine but after the announcement all countries in the region will be keeping a close eye to monitor the entry of Carphentanyl. Complicating the matter is the fact that Carphentanyl is bought and sold over unregistered so called 'Dark Web' online sites and deliveries are made through legitimate logistics companies such as DHL or regular post office services. Furthermore reported sales using Bitcoins and other digital currencies has made tracking extremely difficult. (TNA)
