Assets worth 463 million baht frozen in Victoria’s Secret case

BANGKOK, May 9 (TNA) -- The Anti-Money Laundering Office resolved to freeze assets worth 463 million baht suspected of being involved in human trafficking related to the Victoria’s Secret massage parlour. Pol Maj Gen Romsit Weeriyasan, deputy secretary-general of the AMLO, said its transaction committee resolved to freeze 45 items of assets from 11 people. The action followed the procurement of a Myanmar girl, aged 12, for sex services at the massage parlour in Bangkok in July 2014. The girl was later forwarded to Malaysia for the same business. The Department of Special Investigation took over the case and charged seven people with human trafficking. On Jan 12, the massage parlour was raided in a sting operation. The owners of the frozen assets included Kampol Wirathepsuporn, the owner of the parlour, and his wife Nipa Wirathepsuporn. The assets included deposits, securities, land plots, condominiums and buildings. The asset seizure would be valid for 90 days. (TNA)
