Deputy PM: Thai economy would expand by 4% this year
BANGKOK, May 11 (TNA) -- Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak expresses confidence that the Thai economy would expand by 4% this year.
In his speech at the opening of Money Expo 2018, the country’s largest financial exhibition of the year, Mr Somkid said all economic indicators showed positive trend for Thailand’s growth, such as consumer spending, investment volume and capital market index.
Mr Somkid said he was concerned of slow adaption to digital economy that the government had pushed forward; therefore, he urged Thai people to accept and learn new digital technologies that greatly propelled growth.
Money Expo 2018 is organized under the concept of "Wealth Transformation” showcasing discounted financial packages from banks, finance companies, insurers and asset management firms.
The organizer said the Expo provides a good opportunity for investors to take advantage of a wide range of investments.
At the event being held at Impact Muangthong Thani from Thursday to Sunday, a new service section is introduced this year dedicated to aging society financial packages.
Mr Santi Viriyarungsrit, Money Expo president, said the organizer expects over Bt1.8 trillion worth of transaction at the Expo, drawing over 15 million visitors. (TNA)
