Popular actor, actress to help promote Thai fruits

BANGKOK, May 11 (TNA) -- The Commerce Ministry has asked main actor and actress of the popular TV series, Love Destiny, to help promote Thai fruits in this crop season. Boonyarit Kalayanamit, director-general of the Internal Trade Department, quoted representatives of Tanawat “Pope” Wattanaputi and Ranee “Bella” Campen as saying that they would join the Thai fruit fair that the ministry set at the CentralWorld shopping centre in Rachaprasong area, Bangkok, on May 18-23. “It is good news because their local and international fans will get to know more about Thai fruits and there will be a chance to expand the consumption of Thai fruits,” he said. Both actor and actress have yet to schedule their presence at the fair that would feature a durian buffet, Mr Boonyarit said. Yields of fruits, especially durian and rambutan, from the East peaks in May and the Commerce Ministry has signed a deal with leading retail stores to supply them at least 330,000 tons of fruits worth 20 billion baht this year. It was an all-time high amount of advanced orders of Thai fruits, Mr Boonyarit said. (END)
