Japan opens industry training centre

BANGKOK, May 11 (TNA) -- Japan has opened its Industry Transformation Centre (ITC) at the Department of Industrial Promotion in Kluai Nam Thai area, Bangkok, to help develop Thai enterprises. Industry Minister Uttama Savanayana and Japanese ambassador to Thailand Shiro Sadoshima were among people attending the opening ceremony. The Japanese ambassador said Japan was the biggest investing country in Thailand and apart from the ITC, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry would also help develop small and medium-sized enterprises in Thailand. Minister Uttama said ITC would help SMEs cope with digital technologies and also let Thai operators use machines that large-scaled enterprises lent. In the past eight months, about 3,800 Thai operators used the ITC and more than 100 innovative products worth 50 million baht were developed there for SMEs. The minister said such centres would be opened in 76 other provinces. The opened ITC also features the Lean Automation System Integrator (LASI) of Denso Corp. Its executive director Katsuhiko Sugito said LASI helped get rid of waste in production and Denso was sharing the idea with Thai operators at the ITC. (TNA)
