Agriculture ministry is developing digital markets for farmers
BANGKOK, May 23 (TNA) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has worked out its Agriculture 4.0 strategic plan that will introduce local farmers to digital markets and buyer-matching services.
The ministry’s digital agriculture promotion committee drafted the strategic plan. Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Luck Wajananawat chaired the committee.
The strategic plan will develop digital markets for farm products on the e-Matching Market (EMM) platform that will use artificial intelligence. The plan will also quickly find physical retail and wholesale markets for farmers and their organisations.
The Agriculture 4.0 plan will lead to free digital markets. It is a way to encourage farmers to participate in projects of the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry to enhance their competitiveness without having to depend on price intervention by the government.
The National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards has developed its e-matching software and tentatively run it since late last year at www.DGTFarm.com. The bureau expects to have at least 1 million accounts of users within early next year. (TNA)
