Indian broker arrested for falsifying fake visas
BANGKOK, May 23 (TNA) – Thai police crack down on fake visa conspiracy, in which 300 Thai women’s ID cards, misused by Indian men to seek visas to stay longer in Thailand.
Tourist Police Bureau deputy chief Surachate Hakparn questioned an arrested Indian broker, who had allegedly used marriage certificates of 300 Indian men and Thai women to apply for spouse visas for these Indians.
Copies of Thai women’s ID cards were sought for marriage registration with Indian men in Saraburi’s Wang Muang district while these Thai women did not aware that the copies of their ID cards were misused.
Former assistant district officer and former municipal officer, who were involved in issuing marriage certificates illegally, are now in prison for criminal offenses. Then, this arrested Indian broker used the document for applying spouse visas for Indian men.
Pol Maj Gen Surachate said the police would seek arrest warrants for 300 men but according to a report, 250 Indian suspects have already left Thailand and only seven others were nabbed.
The police will coordinate with Wang Muang district office to revoke illegally-registered marriage certificates of all 300 Thai women. (TNA)
