UNWTO supports Thailand’s tourism promotion policy
BANGKOK, June 1 (TNA) -- The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) gives its full supports for Thailand’s tourism promotion policy.
UNWTO Secretary-general Zurab Pololikashvili on Thursday met with Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House during his Thailand visit to attend the 4th UNWTO World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism.
Government spokesman Weerachon Sukhontapatipak said Prayut praised the decision to select Thailand as the first country in Asia to host of World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism.
The UNWTO World Forum is taking place from Wednesday to Friday in Bangkok, focusing on harnessing the power of technology as a driver for sustainable growth.
Pololikashvili told Prayut that attending the Forum in Thailand giving him great opportunity to taste Thai food.
Thailand wanted to continue working with UNWTO after over 30 years of collaborative partnership, Prayut was quoted as saying.
Weerachon said Gen Prayut asked for UNWTO technical assistance to improve tourism industry.
Mr Pololikashvili said UNWTO looked to cooperate with Thai government to share experience on tourism development in Thailand, a major tourist destination of the world. (TNA)
