Bird flu prevention measures in Thailand
BANGKOK, June 5 (TNA) -- Thailand maintains disease control measures along the border and high risk areas amid concerns over bird-flu infection in neighboring Cambodia.
Citing a report by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), Dr Somchuan Ratanamungklanon, Livestock Development Department spokesman, announced Monday all quarantine measures remained effective for poultry import from Cambodia.
Livestock officials had collected samples from poultry farms in the 10-kilometer radius from the border for laboratory tests, he said.
Officials also sprayed migratory bird sanctuaries across Thailand with disinfectant four times a year, he addedใ
Tthis year, over 965,000 locations or 62 percent had been complete. Animal carcasses had constantly been sent to the Animal Health Research Centre for bird flu lab tests, the spokesman said. (TNA)
