Nationwide E-Driving tests underway
BANGKOK, June 8 (TNA) -- The Land Transport Department and the Office of the Vocational Education Commission are installing E-Driving systems at the driving test sites of nationwide land transport offices.
Sanit Phromwong, director-general of the Land Transport Department, said E-Driving systems would ensure standard and efficiency in driving tests and allow vocational students to apply their innovations at real public service facilities.
The application should help vocational students to start their own businesses in the future, said Suthep Chitayawong, secretary-general of the Vocational Education Commission.
E-Driving test systems being installed at nationwide land transport offices are based on innovations by vocational students. The Office of the Vocational Education Commission assigned its vocational schools in all provinces to install and maintain E-Driving test systems at the transport offices. The project supported the application of local technology and created jobs, Mr Suthep said.
The Land Transport Department operates 196 driving test sites nationwide. E-Driving test systems were installed at 10 sites in Bangkok, Chon Buri, Chiang Mai, Lampang, Khon Kaen and Phuket. Vocational students will install the systems at the remaining test sites within this year. (TNA)
