5 ornamental pearls contest at jewelry fair

BANGKOK, June 9 (TNA) -- Five outstanding ornamental pearls will contest in the final round at the 62nd Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair, scheduled to be held between September 7-11, said Duangkamol Jiambutr, Director of Gems and Jewelry Institute of Thailand. Ms Duangkamol said a total of 333 ornamentals made from pearl and designed by Thais and foreigners were sent to contest at the upcoming fair in the beginning. A committee eventually selected five of them which scored highest points for the contest in the final round, she said. Four of the five selected pieces are designed by local designers while the remainder is designed by a Saudi Arabian. The winner name will be announced on September 7 and will also receive an honourary shield to be bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn. (TNA)
