Big lot of illicit drugs seized

BANGKOK, June 15 (TNA) – Anti-narcotic officials and soldiers arrested six people for alleged possession of 9 million speed pills and 300 kilograms of crystal meth. Sirinya Sitdhichai, secretary-general of the Narcotics Control Board, said the illicit drugs were transported from the northern province of Chiang Mai to Ayutthaya province. The six suspects were arrested on a frontage road close to Phahon Yothin Road in Wang Noi district in Ayutthaya. Authorities also seized assets worth about 10 million baht from them. One of the suspects was identified as Panatkit Soponpumpanya who had been wanted under an arrest warrant since 2011. The man was a major figure in a northern drug racket, Mr Sirinya said. (TNA)
