Spider cards available on June 23
BANGKOK, June 16 (TNA) – The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) will distribute 200,000 the Mangmoom or Spider cards for MRT train passengers this month in the introduction of the single card system for mass transit transport.
Mangmoom card is a single electronic card that will be able to use for all mass transit in the future.
In the first phase, the Mangmoom ticket system will be compatible with MRT subway’s Blue Line from Hua Lamphong to Bang Sue and Purple Line from Tao Poon to Klong Bang Phai.
The cards will be released on June 23. Passengers can receive the newly-launched cards at all MRT purple line stations.
Commuters will have to first pay a minimum of 150 baht for the card. Of the total, 50 baht will be for a deposit of the card and the remaining of 100 baht for the train fare.
The card will be divided into three categories - blue cards for general public, gold cards for senior citizens and grey cards for students.
The single card system will cover other modes of transport, linking Airport Rail Link and public bus service in Oct. (TNA)
