Mangmoon cards unveiled for MRT passengers today

BANGKOK, June 22 (TNA) – Transport Minister Arkom Termpittayapaisith presided over the launching of the Mangmoon (spider) cards for MRT passengers at Tao Poon station today. The joining of the common ticket system is first usable for MRT’s purple line and blue line. After the launch of Mangmoon card system today, in which 900 cards are available for passengers, the cards will be distributed at MRT’s Purple Line stations. They are available in three types- the blue cards for general public, the gold cards for the elderly and the silver grey cards for students. Blue cards for general public will be distributed from June 23-29 and July 2-5 and 16,000 will be available each day. Cards for students and senior citizens will be distributed on June 30 and July 1 and 5,000 cards of each type will be distributed per day. Due to limited number of the cards, each person can receive one card only and they have to present their ID cards to get the card and pay the minimum cost of 150 baht – 100 baht for the fare and 50 baht for the card deposit. Mangmoon cards can be used for the MRT’s Purple Line and Blue Line in the first phase of the single card ticket system for the mass transit service. (TNA)
