Thai Foreign Minister denies report of UK applying pressure

PARIS, June 25 (TNA) -- The Minister of Foreign Affairs reassured the public the the Prime Minister's official state visit to the UK was well received and no political interference was observed. Don Pramudwinai, the Minister for Foreign Affairs who was part of the PM's delegation on his official visit to the UK and France told the media that the trip was a success and Gen Prayut had been warmly received by Prime Minister Theresa Mary of the UK. Mr Don stated that when both leaders met, they had spoken of concerns in particular how both countries can work with each other in the future to bolster mutual relations and nothing was mentioned of Thailand's political situation as claimed by some sources. Ms May only mentioned that she hoped the political progress made thus far would lead to general elections soon. Mr Don confirmed that both leaders were looking to the future and one topic of interest for the UK in particular was the 2019 Asian Summit which will be hosted by Thailand. It was apparent that the UK was at present focused on its looming exit from the EU in March of next year which will shift her focus to pursue closer ties in the Asian region. (TNA)
