PM invites Frence businesses to invest in Thailand

PARIS, June 26 (TNA) -- Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha invites French businesses to invest in infrastructure development projects in Thailand during his France visit. Gen Prayut met with executives of leading French companies such as Michelin, Suez, Transdev, SNCF and VINCI on Monday ahead of the planned meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron later in the day. Pushing for greater economic ties, the Thai premier highlight business opportunities for France as Thailand looked to improve its capabilities as a regional hub for trade and investment. He briefed them on various development projects such as the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) that the French companies could take part in. Gen Prayut urged the French businesses to consider their investments that would support Thailand’s 4.0 vision and human resource development. In the meeting with Macron, Gen Prayut is expected to give a briefing on the progress of democratic election preparation and other reforms his military government has undertaken since seizing power four years ago. Gen Prayut is on a two-nation European tour which started in London last week, reflecting a softened diplomatic stance by the European Union that agreed to resume official contacts with Thailand in December last year.
