Search for missing boys continues on 6th day
CHIANG RAI, June 28 (TNA) – Officials have adjusted the rescue plan to battle constant rain on the sixth day of the rescue operation to save 12 teenage football players and their coach, trapped in a partially flooded cave complex in the northern province of Chiang Rai.
Despite the attempt to pump water out of the cave to assist the navy divers in the search operation, the muddy water keeps rising this morning due to overnight heavy rain.
Floodwater has quickly overflowed into the first chamber of the cave complex in the Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nang Non Forest Park. The water level is about 10-20 cm high.
Divers could work intermittently because of the rising water. Water pumps run around the clock to reduce the water level inside the cave.
Meanwhile, a team of navy divers and disaster experts from the US has arrived and join the mission today after three cave-diving experts from England earlier came to assist the Thai navy team in the search.
Rescuers are also looking for more alternative entrances to access the chamber at the end of the cave complex, where the boys and their coach are believed to stay and wait for help. (TNA)
