BTS skytrain finishes fixing radio frequency interference problem

BANGKOK, July 2 (TNA) – Bangkok Mass Transit System Plc (BTSC), the operator of the skytrain, changed the receiver in the signaling system on June 30 to tackle radio frequency jamming, which caused outcry from passengers for the delays last month. BTSC chief executive officer Surapong Laoha-unya this morning inspected the signaling system and the operation of the Green Line trains together with secretary-general of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), officials of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and representatives from Total Access Communication (DTAC) and TOT. He said the problem was fixed with the changing of the receiver and the rail operation has returned to normal. However, the interference prevention system will be installed as a precautionary measure for a similar problem, which may occur in the future. The company is considering compensation for service users, affected by the delays over the past week. The decision will be finalized within this week. (TNA)
