AoT targets 130 million air travellers this year
BANGKOK, July 2 (TNA) -- The Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) announced that it has set a target of a 9 - 10% increase in passenger traffic or no less than 130 million passengers at all six airports it currently manages.
On the occasion of its 39th anniversary, AOT president Nitinai Sirismatthakarn announced that since it was founded, the AoT has handled a total of 10,503,326 commercial flights and serviced 1,573,696,970 passengers.
At present, there are more than 130 carriers operating from its airports ferrying passengers to more than 200 destinations.
As such, Mr Nitinai said that the AoT has plans to increase passenger traffic at its six airports to 130 million this year. This represents a 9 - 10% increase over last year.
Mr Nitinai said that during for the eight month of this fiscal year period between October 2017 to May 2018 they successfully handled 55,021,195 international passengers which represents a 14.03% increase while domestic flyers accounted for 40,515,027 passengers, a 4.71% increase.
He added that the AoT was committed to improving the capabilities of all its airports and has plans to develop an integrated national air travel network that includes improved cargo handling alongside commercial passenger services.
New business opportunities are also being explored at to expand its operations while increased utilisation of new innovations and technologies will ensure greater convenience at all of its terminals. (TNA)
