FTI to promote local products

BANGKOK, July 19 (TNA) – The Federation of Thai Industries will propose its "Made in Thailand" campaign to the government to promote Thai products. FTI chairman Supant Mongkolsuthree said that his federation would propose the government handle the campaign as one of its national agenda because the quality of Thai products was better than those made 20 years ago and many countries had confidence in Thai products. Mr Supant said that the Made in Thailand campaign could be conducted in a way to prevent impacts on Thailand’s membership of the World Trade Organization amid fierce trade disputes. Support from the government in the campaign would promote industrial growth and improve the life of about 30 million people working in the industrial sector. Meanwhile, Kanitha Mueangkrachang, head of FTI’s Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunications Club, said industries in her group would grow by 7% with its value being estimated at US$39.06 billion this year. The exports of electrical appliances increased by 3% to US$24.41 billion. (TNA)
