Flash flood in Tak province
TAK, July 24 (TNA) – Forest run-off flowed into a village in Tak province, prompting local authorities to evacuate locals to higher ground.
Incessant rain triggered a flash flood in Tha Song Yang district. Ten houses have been totally submerged and 35 others have been partially flooded. Officials rushed to evacuate villagers, the elderly and ill people from their home to safe area.
Meanwhile, flood has receded in Mae Sot border district after the Moei River overflowed its banks and inundated low-lying area along the river yesterday.
In the northeastern province of Yasothon, the influx of water from the swollen Chee River cut off a road in Kham Kuen Kaew district. About 200 households have been affected.
In Nong Khai, the water in Mekong River has risen almost two metres in one day. It reached the highest level of this year and is about two metres below its banks.
Sluice gates have been closed to prevent flood flowing in to farmlands and water pumps have been mobilized to prepare for possible flooding. (TNA)
