Special channel opened for Laos-bound donations

UBON RATCHATHINI, July 29 (TNA) – Customs officials have opened a special channel to facilitate the transport of donations to victims of the dam collapse in Laos. Pol Col Naratpol Lertrachatapapas, customs chief at the Chong Mek border crossing, said people delivering donations to Laos can have their donations checked conveniently at a special service area in front of the customs checkpoint and they would have to present the checklists of donations and all documents required by immigration and customs laws to have their donations cleared smoothly. Complying with the legal procedures, the people would have no problems on their returns, he said. Pol Col Naratpol assured that customs officials were facilitating the transport of donations there. “Officials allow trucks to pass the border to the customs checkpoint on the Lao side to prevent damage to donations. However, relevant documents must be completed to abide by laws,” the Chong Mek customs chief said. From the Lao checkpoint, local officials would sort out donations and then distribute them to Champasak and Attapeu provinces affected by deluge from the dam collapse, he said. (TNA)
