HRH Premier receives WHO regional director

Manama, Aug. 1 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has called for containing crisies and conflicts by a more effective political action that would remove war threats and their devastating impacts on the health situation in the region.
HRH Premier stressed Bahrain’s success in achieving the development goals of the World Health Organisation (WHO), adding that the government is keen to adopt initiatives that would achieve the best health care and services for the citizens.
This came as HRH Premier received WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr, Ahmed bin Salim Al-Mandhari, at the Gudaibiya Palace today.
HRH Premier praised the programmes adopted by WHO regarding the international partnership to develop general health, being the cornerstone of sustainable development which depends primarily on human resources.
The Prime Minister expressed pride in the multiple positions held by citizens from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in various international institutions, and their success in this field, which, he said, reflects the advanced level of human development across the GCC, citing the appointment of an Omani competency as WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean.
HRH the Prime Minister praised the role being played by WHO to achieve more coordination among its member states in order to ensure better health services and make their efforts converge in controlling and preventing diseases.
HRH Premier stressed the government’s keenness to step up its cooperation with WHO and the relevant specialised international agencies to support its policies aimed at developing the health care delivered to the citizens, and improve the quality of medical services.
He pointed out that the Kingdom has succeeded in achieving advanced health development and medical care levels as reflected in the reports of specialised international organisations in this regard, underlining the government’s continuous efforts to further develop health and therapeutic services and make quantum leaps in this field.
WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean affirmed that Bahrain is always among leading countries in the region regarding the delivery of high-quality health services, which, he said, reflects the government’s successful policies in this regard.
Al-Mandhari also praised the government’s constant cooperation with WHO in order to achieve the goals of health development.
