Several Russian-Chinese meetings, including top-level, to be held this year - Lavrov

SINGAPORE, August 2. /TASS/. A number of Russian-Chinese meetings, including the top-level ones, will take place until the end of this year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. "We are glad to have another opportunity to talk and compare our assessments of what is happening in the world and, of course, discuss bilateral relations. Our strategic partnership is developing steadily. We remember that [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin’s state visit to China was a huge success. The two leaders meet on the sidelines of the Johannesburg summit just recently. A number of bilateral meetings, including top-level, will be held before the end of this year. We are interested in continuing to ensure the effectiveness of these contacts, their productivity and deepen bilateral foreign policy coordination in every possible way," Lavrov said. For his part, Wang Yi noted that the recent meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Johannesburg on the sidelines of the BRICS summit took place in a very "warm and friendly atmosphere." "We had a very good atmosphere, which shows once again a high level and importance of a comprehensive strategic partnership. Today we have a very good opportunity to hold an in-depth discussion and synchronize our watches," he stressed. Read more
