New BTS trains arrive at Laem Chabang port

BANGKOK, Aug 7 (TNA) - The new BTS trains, transported from the factory in Ankara, Turkey arrived at Laem Chabang Port in Chon Buri yesterday. It is the first batch of all 22 new trains, purchased from Siemens to serve the Green Line (Sukhumvit) route extension, 13 km. further south from Bearing to Samut Prakarn, which will be operational at the end of this year. All nine stations will be opened in December after the first Samrong station has been opened at the beginning of this year. Moreover, when the construction of the route extension further north from Mo Chit to Khu Kod in Pathum Thani is completed, the Green Line will be 68.25 km long and will facilitate commuters from Bangkok’s surrounding provinces, travelling to the Bangkok city center. The new batch of Siemens trains has more facilities and room for passengers and save energy. (TNA)
