Aso, S. Korean envoy agree to fight protectionism+

TOKYO, March 11 Kyodo - Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso and a visiting special envoy to South Korean
President Lee Myung Bak agreed Wednesday that the two governments should voice
their will to fight protectionism in the upcoming Group of 20 financial summit
in London, a government official said.

Aso and SaKong Il in Tokyo, chairman of South Korea's Group of 20 coordination
committee, also agreed that Japan and South Korea should continue to cooperate
closely in the fields of global economy and finance to overcome the global
financial crisis, the official said.
The South Korean envoy said Lee places importance on the bilateral ties in
financial and economic areas, while Aso said there is a need to confirm at the
London summit the progress of what was agreed on at the previous financial
summit in Washington last November, according to the official.
The two also confirmed the two countries will work together toward the
financial summit slated for April 2, the official said.
