JJ Green market reclaimed to become park

BANGKOK, Aug 31 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has reclaimed the JJ Green market area to be converted into a part of the Chatuchak park complex. Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang said that the land lease agreement with a private market operator expired on Aug 12. Traders were notified one month in advance to remove all structures by Sept 12. The BMA will then improve the land before returning to the Queen Sirikit Park Foundation. It will close the area and part of Khamphaeng Phet 3 road to upgrade the route, connecting three parks – Queen Sirikit Park, Wachirabenchathat Park also known as Suan Rot Fai Park and Chutachak Park. It will become the park complex on about 360-acre plots of land. (TNA)
