3 industrial estates in Ayutthaya won’t be affected by flood
AYUTTHAYA, Sept 8 (TNA) -- As heavy rainfalls and severe flooding are devastating the northern and northeastern parts of Thailand, the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) is confident that three major industrial estates in Ayutthaya province, near Bangkok, will not be affected by flooding like 2011.
Positive remarks were given Friday by IEAT deputy governor Vitoon Uthim after his visit to Saha Rattana Nakorn Industrial Estate in the former capital.
Mr Vitoon said concerned officials are monitoring the amount of rainfalls and they were of the opinion that rain water as well as water stored at three dams including Chao Phya, Pasak Chollasit and the Rama 6 dams is still at the normal level.
The canal near Saha Rattana Nakorn Industrial Estate has been dredged while a waterway is built inside the estate compound to make way for rainwater falling there.
Also, the IEAT has installed water pumps inside the industrial estate.
Sufficient preparations are also made at Bang Pa-in Industrial Estate. They include monitoring of weather forecasts issued by the Meteorological Department and the water level at the three dams. A total of 22 water pumps have been installed at the estate.
Officials at Ban Wa (Hi-Tech) Industrial Estate are closely monitoring rainwater flowing in front of the estate and ready to issue warning to those staying there in case that water levels at the three dams exceed dangerous level.
So far, according to concerned officials including those at the weather department say that there is nothing to fear about the amount of rainfall in Ayutthaya. (TNA)
