Relief aid shipment to be delivered to Yemen

Manama, Sept. 15 (BNA): Following directives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Honorary President of the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO), to deliver humanitarian aid to the brotherly Yemeni people within the “Restoring Hope” programme, and under the patronage of HM the King’s Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs and RCO’s Board of Trustees Chairman, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, RCO has prepared, in cooperation with the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, a large shipment of humanitarian relief aid to the Yemeni people. On the occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser extended sincere thanks and appreciation to HM the King for his humanitarian initiatives and interest in supporting stricken peoples all over the world, emphasising the support of HM King Hamad and the kingdom for the brotherly Yemeni people in order to reduce their sufferings in light of the difficult situation they are going through. HH Shaikh Nasser lauded the support enjoyed by RCO from His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier. He added that, based on the royal directives, RCO is preparing many humanitarian relief aid consignments to the brotherly Yemeni people, in cooperation with the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation in the UAE in order to provide the basic needs of the Yemeni citizens in many cities and governorates. RCO Secretary-General, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed Al-Ameen, said the humanitarian initiative is in line with HM King Hamad’s directives to support the brotherly Yemeni people, as part of Bahrain’s contributions to the “Restoring Hope” Programme in Yemen through providing the basic needs for needy Yemenis. The humanitarian gesture adds to HM the King’s noble gestures in supporting stricken people, particularly in Yemen, to alleviate their sufferings, Al-Sayed said, noting that the shipment contains basic materials such as rice, flour, sugar, oil, lentil and many other food items. Director General of Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Mohammed Hajji Al Khouri, said that the timing of the joint humanitarian relief aid shipment reflect the keenness of the two countries’ leaderships to reduce the sufferings of the Yemeni people, adding that the joint initiative reflects the GCC humanitarian approach and the bloc’s commitment to ensuring Yemen’s unity and keenness to enhance the living standards of the Yemeni citizens. Al- Khouri asserted that the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation and RCO had previously cooperated to support the Yemeni people, citing the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two sides last April to build a $ 2 million-Bahrain Health Centre in Aden, noting the health facility will alleviate the suffering of patients, and support the health sector in Yemen.
