Bahrain's achievements in SDGs 2030 praised by the international community

Geneva, Sept. 17 (BNA): The Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri, met with a number of Ambassadors and Representatives of friendly countries accredited to the Human Rights Councils, on the sidelines of the 39th session of the Human Rights Council at the United Nations Office here. The Assistant Foreign Minister met the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Peru, Ambassador Claudio Julio de la Puente Ribeyro, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Uganda, Ambassador Christopher Onyanga Aparr, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea, Ambassador Ms. Ji-ah Paik, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Colombia, Ambassador Dr. Beatriz Londoño-Soto, the Permanent Representative of the of the Republic of Chad, Ambassador Bamanga Abbas Malloum, the Permanent Representative of the of the Republic of Maldives, Ambassador Hala Hameed, the Permanent Representative of the of the Republic of Cyprus, Ambassador George C. Kasoulides, and the Permanent Representative of the of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ambassador Farukh Amil. The Assistant Foreign Minister praised the distinguished relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and those countries, stressing the Kingdom’s keenness to further develop these relations to achieve common interests. The Assistant Foreign Minister affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is pursuing an integrated strategy for development in all its dimensions, as it adopts a promising national vision seeking to benefit from all available resources that contribute to achieving all educational, health, housing, social, environmental needs of the citizens. Thus balancing the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental. The Assistant Foreign Minister also reviewed the most significant achievements of the Kingdom of Bahrain in implementing the goals of sustainable development 2030, eradicating poverty, developing services and health care, raising the quality and outcomes of education, bridging the gender gap, achieving the highest standards of health environment, using clean energy and human and urban development, and creating competitive work environments and support for emerging institutions. The Assistant Foreign Minister highlighted that the Kingdom of Bahrain spends more than 35% of the total public expenditure on health, education and social protection, as 78% of the total for the sustainable development goals 2030 are included in the Government Action Plan, "Towards Justice, Security and Welfare of Community", in accordance with the legal structure and constitutional institutions and judicial protection of growth and development. He pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain is already achieving the goals of sustainable development before it was issued. The Millennium Development Goals were successfully completed ahead of schedule in 2015, and the Kingdom is classified as one of the "highly developed countries in human development". This comes after having made great strides in achieving the desired development goals, and that the Kingdom's constantly implementing these policies and plans to meet the country’s aspirations through achieving the best practices in all political, economic, social, cultural and environmental fields. A number of issues of common concern were also discussed during the meetings, including coordination and cooperation in the promotion and development of human rights to enhance bilateral and multilateral relations.
