Foreign Minister participates in meeting on Global Call to Action on the World Drug Problem

New York, Sep. 24 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, participated in the high-level meeting on the "Global Call to Action on the World Drug Problem", chaired by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, with the participation of world leaders present in this session, on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA73) in New York City. The Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that this event reflects the international community’s understanding of the danger of drug scourge and the need for concerted efforts to eliminate it. He also noted the endeavors and initiatives done by President Donald Trump to enhance international cooperation to fight the drug epidemic together. The Minister of Foreign Affairs also stressed the importance of collective action and commitment to ensure an effective response to the drug problem as well as develop sustainable solutions for it, in accordance with international laws and in a way that promotes development efforts around the globe. The aim of this meeting is to strengthen the efforts done by the United Nations and the internal efforts of its Member States to address and combat the supply and demand on illicit drugs, expand and develop treatment, and enhance international cooperation.
