Foreign minister meets UN secretary-general

New York, Sept. 28 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, met here today the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and those of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, wishing him success in carrying out his duties in order to benefit all countries of the world. The minister expressed the Kingdom's pride in its growing relations and its continued cooperation with the United Nations, as well as its appreciation of the constructive initiatives and efforts of Mr. Guterres in developing the work of the United Nations in line with current realities and challenges facing all countries of the world. He also pointed out the Secretary-General’s role in strengthening international cooperation and accommodating effective means and mechanisms to overcome them in a way that ensures the achievement of the UN's goals in establishing international peace and security and supporting the efforts of sustainable development. The Foreign Minister also affirmed the support of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the reforms carried out by Mr. Guterres to contribute to the structure of the United Nations Organisation. UN Secretary-General requested the Minister of Foreign Affairs to convey his greetings to His Majesty the King, His Royal Highness the Prime Minister, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and praised the policy of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which is based on communication and cooperation with the United Nations and all its organs, commending the Kingdom’s effective role in spreading security and peace in the world and wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
