Bahrain's Oil Minister patronises International CSR and Sustainability Conference

Manama, Oct. 2 (BNA): Under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, the Kingdom of Bahrain hosts the International CSR and Sustainability Conference which will be held on October 17-18. The conference will be organised by the Bahrain Liability Society in cooperation with the council for social responsibility in the Eastern region and the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), with the support from the Bahrain Gas Company (Banagas), Viva Bahrain Telecom, Berlitz Languages Institute and Al Qaood Entrepreneurship Foundation. The minister expressed his happiness for choosing the Kingdom of Bahrain to host the conference in its third edition, because of the Kingdom’s good reputation in the charitable work and the responsibility of giving to companies and the establishment of the principle of shared sharing in life socially, both locally and globally. Praising the efforts of the organising committee in preparing and coordinating with the various bodies, that contributes to the development of the system of exchange of information, experience and expertise and review best practices in this vital area. On the other side, the minister valued the success of the conference during the past years, which contributed to the establishment of awareness of societal responsibility and its importance within the society, where economic values no longer profit and loss is the only determinant to evaluate the performance of companies. However, there are other values that contribute to the advancement of society and its members, where social responsibility has become one of the most important factors used to measure the performance and contributions of companies and institutions in the society. Attending will be executive heads of companies from different sectors of productions and services, and selected prominent businesspeople and officials of social responsibility units in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries from the public and private sectors, governmental and non-governmental bodies on social responsibility and sustainable development activities. In its third edition, the conference will also bring together members of the economic and social community in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC countries to discuss the latest developments, aspirations and issues related to social responsibility and sustainable development. As well as, the conference will highlight the role of social responsibility in advancing sustainable social development, youth empowerment and entrepreneurship. The conference will also include the launch of a number of Gulf reports and the review of international studies on topics related to social responsibility and sustainable development, as well as the discussion of a number of different experiences of local institutions and companies that have a leading role in the service of society. The winners of the Bahrain International Award for social responsibility and sustainable development will also be honoured during the conference. The second edition of the social responsibility conference has witnessed the honouring of a number of companies and institutions that won the "Bahrain International Corporate Social Responsibility Award" namely Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas), Eskan Bank Bahrain, Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Arab Environment for Services Consultant, Yusuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Company, National Bank of Bahrain, startup newsletter company, Al Kawthar Association for Social care a non-governmental organisation.
