Iran’s exports of cement to Central Asia up by 191%

Tehran, Oct 2, IRNA – Iran’s exports of cement to Central Asian countries via Sarakhs rail border grew by 191% in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21) compared to the same period last year, according to the managing-director of Khorasan railway. Mohammad-Hadi Ziaei Mehr said that Iran exported 193,000 tons of cement to Central Asia during the six-month period. Noting that reduction of fuel consumption and growing rate of safety are among the advantages of rail transfer, the official said that increased cement exports by rail network will lead to added outcome of production units and finding new markets in Central Asian countries. He said that Uzbekistan received 175,000 tons (91%) of Iran’s cement exports during the mentioned period, followed by Turkmenistan and Tajikistan as the second and third destinations of Iranian cement in Central Asia.
