21 Thai Students Return Home From Quake-Hit Palu

By TUWEDANIYA (PD) HATYAI, Oct 4 (Bernama) – Twenty-one Thai students affected by the earthquake and tsunami which struck Palu, Indonesia's Central Sulawesi on Friday returned home Tuesday. A Royal Thai Air force aircraft flew the students to the Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok. They were received on arrival by Southern Border Provinces Administrative Organisation secretary-general Col Thawi Sodsong and officials from the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok. The students were later flown to Hatyai on a commercial airline to return to their respective hometown and arrived at the southern Thailand airport at about 11pm (local time). Currently, six Thai students are still in Palu. The earthquake, of 7.4 magnitude on the Richter scale, rocked Palu city and Donggala last Friday and triggered a three-metre-high tsunami. The tragedy has so far killed more than 1,300 people. -- BERNAMA
