Vietnam, Cambodia discuss ways to boost border trade
Phnom Penh (VNA) - Vietnam and Cambodia are discussing measures to boost border
trade at a conference opened in Phnom Penh on March 16.
The two-day conference is co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and
Trade Nguyen Cam Tu and Cambodian State Secretary for Trade Keo Sok Nay.
Representatives from nine Cambodian provinces and nine Vietnamese localities sharing
the common borderline are attending the event to review their cooperation since the
previous conference, which was held in Vietnam 's Long An province in January
2008.
They will discuss measures to remove trade barriers, focusing on customs and transit
procedures and border gate management in order to help raise bilateral trade
turnover to 2 billion USD.
In 2008, two-way trade between Vietnam and Cambodia hit 1.7 billion USD, to
which 65 percent was from border trade.-Enditem
