Bahrain's Deputy Premier receives FAO delegation

Manama, Oct. 16 (BNA): Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa stressed that benefiting from best food and agrarian practices applicable by UN and international agencies will contribute to boosting the sustainability of these two vital sectors. The Deputy Premier’s remarks came as he received today Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf who introduced to him World Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) delegation currently visiting the Kingdom to offer technical support in assessment of capabilities of the agricultural sector. Shaikh Khalid welcomed the delegation praised the Organisation’s efforts in disseminating its noble goals around the world to achieve food security for all populations and to ensure high quality food sufficiency for humankind as well as its other objectives aimed to consolidate an active healthy lifestyle across the globe in the interest of all humanity. The delegation expressed the FAO's keenness on fruitful cooperation with Bahrain to achieve priority SDGs including strategic planning, policy setting, and boosting agricultural information system. They expressed admiration of the Kingdom’s care for the food and farming sectors to meet the citizens wish to direct their investments towards these two sectors in harmony with Bahrain’s food security policy. The delegation’s visit to Bahrain comes to participate in workshop comprising representatives of the relevant governmental departments in collaboration with them. The delegation will also discuss means of cooperation regarding statistical support, and boosting the contribution of animal resources in the food security as well as latest developments in fisheries wealth management and food security strategy in Bahrain.
