HRH the Crown Prince of Bahrain receives the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC

Manama, Oct. 16 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today received the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Patricia Espinosa Cantellano, at Gudaibiya Palace. HRH the Crown Prince welcomed the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC and commended her commitment to tackling a wide range of international concerns including climate change and environmental justice issues. In this topic, HRH the Crown Prince emphasized Bahrain’s efforts in reducing carbon footprint, which includes the ratification of the COP21 agreement by HM the King. HRH the Crown Prince went on reiterating Bahrain’s solid support for international efforts to combat climate change under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, noting that Bahrain will host the 21st meeting of the Green Climate Fund. HRH the Crown Prince concluded by underscoring the important role that public-private cooperation plays in balancing sustainable development with environmental stewardship, noting that access to sustainable and affordable energy is critical to global long-term growth. H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Oil, also attended the meeting.
