Tender to be issued for consultancy services to develop the King Hamad Causeway project

Manama, Oct. 24 (BNA): The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport, HE Nabil bin Mohammed Al Amudi, and the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, HE Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed today announced that the tender for consultancy services to manage the transition phase of the King Hamad Causeway project will be issued next week. The announcement was made on the side-lines of the Future Investment Initiative (FII), held in Riyadh under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport highlighted the vital role played by the leaderships of both countries in initiating both the King Hamad Causeway and associated railway projects. HE the Minister added that the projects will be implemented in partnership with the private sector in accordance with the directives of both countries. Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications noted that the tender for consultancy services to manage the transition of the King Hamad Causeway will be issued next week by the King Fahd Causeway Authority.  HE the Minister emphasised that the preliminary economic feasibility study and the initial design phase had been completed, laying the foundations for the implementation phase. HE Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Hakbani, Governor of the General Customs Authority and Chairman of King Fahad Causeway Authority Board expressed his pride to be a part of the new King Hamad Causeway project. HE the Governor added that the Authority is coordinating closely with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Transport and Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications to ensure the success of the project. The project represents a new phase in the longstanding bilateral relationship and demonstrates both countries’ commitment to the GCC strategy to strengthen collaboration through the introduction of new and innovative projects, with examples including the GCC common market and the GCC customs union.
